Url inside blocks
« on: September 01, 2012, 05:57:54 AM »
I just noticed a strange thing.

When i insert a url link
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.try.com]click here[/url] inside a block:
- if there's just one link, it doesn't appear underlined;
- if there are two or more links, all of them appear underlined.

Someone can explain it to me???

This is a BBC block?  This sounds like some kind of CSS issue, related to link decoration.
Can you share a link to your forum?

Code: [Select]
www.scuolanotarile.com
consider that now i have add a
Code: [Select]
[u] tag  to add a fake link underline… you will notice that...

This underline is very light -- 1 px wide only.
But it is there.

You can see, in index.css, for a:link for a:visited, for bbc_link:link and bbc_link:visited that the Curve theme removes text decoration on links, and adds them back for bbc_links. The bbc_link class is added when function parse_bbc processes a [url] tag.

raffo,

  May we have a link to the page showing the issue so we may examine the html to determine if something specific is causing it other than possibly a css issue as discussed here?

  Unclosed html tags can effect other tags behaviors. I would first take a look at all blocks on the page and ensure that the proper syntax is being used for the html.

It has errors, but nothing major:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.scuolanotarile.com&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

Just the usual HTML errors -- using "&" instead of "&amp;" in a URL in a tag, </br> instead of <br />, and leaving the "" off strings in the font tag.

AngelinaBelle,

  Yes you are correct.. I had to have the url to see it for myself & thank you for that.
The first bbc link is within a span tag & the css has different attributes for that.

One is span.bbc_u the other is a.bbc_link

raffo,
  Change the html tag setup to be alike within the blocks & all should appear as desired else add additional style attributes directly to some/all of the tags.

To the first bbc link, raffo applied the [u] tag, in order to get that desired underline.

I think the same behavior would be observed on a forum post.
This is the style which the theme applies.

I think that this is not really a SimplePortal issue -- it is a themes and graphics issue.

Raffo,

We will be happy to continue to try to help you here, but I suggest you will get more, better, and quicker help elsewhere if you use the themes and graphics board at simplemachines.org

If you choose to do this, I would suggest that, instead of discussing custom BBC blocks, you should put exactly the same BBC content into a regular forum post, and discuss that.  The wonderful community and support team at http://www.simplemachines.org should be able to help you customize the css to get link decoration the way you want it on your forum.

Good Luck!
