Having a couple issues, hoping to get them fixed.
« on: November 30, 2011, 03:32:20 AM »
Going to make the switch from using a wordpress front page to simple portal. Since after the recent release of Wordpress, it is a complete mess in terms of wasting resources.

I had a couple issues/concerns I was hoping to get resolved before I switch. here is a link to use as a reference. http://deadbeatgaming.com/forum/index.php Not finished, just messing around to learn what does what before I make changed.

1. For some reason the blocks on the right, do not match up with the ones in the middle. For example, the headerbar that says "user info'. Is higher then the middle blocks headbar. How do I fix this? it's this way regardless of the skin.

2. How do I edit the menu items. Where it says Forum/Home/Help etc.. I think it's great you can create custom pages using Simple Portal, but they aren't useful if I can't link to them in the top menu bar.

3. Is there anyway to create a custom url link for the pages Simple Portal creates?

4. How would I go about making simple portal my default page when you go to the main url of my website. Instead of having to go to deadbeatgaming/forum, it working immediatly as soon as you go to deadbeatgaming would be nice (since I will be getting rid of Wordpress).

Thanks for any help.

#1. Try going into Admin/Simple Portal/Configuration/General Settings/Disable Side Collapsing

#2. Menu items are in the default SMF files. Sources/Subs.php  See This.

For #1 -- that extra space above the center area of your portal page is there by design.
But if you don't like it, you can change it.

For instructions straight from our founder, please see.

Strange? I just disabled Side collapsing and it fixed mine. Maybe my css being hacked to death had something to do with it without me knowing.  :D

I removed the line of code that the link above said to take out. Now it lines up perfect. I misread the link and didn't do it at first (thought it would remove the space between the menu and the blocks).

#3. Simple answer: No, not automatically. You can, however, change your .htaccess file to redirect pages/rewrite page urls, or modify your index.php (in the root folder) in some way, but that's something I don't know how to do very well.

#4. You can try the Standalone Portal mode. Check out our Documenation for how this works.
Ms. Eliana TamerinIt should be painfully obvious by now that I don't respond to support PMs. Don't send me PMs for support. They will be ignored and deleted, post on the Support Boards to get support.
