Blocks in Blocks: Unread Posts and New Replies
« on: November 19, 2010, 02:18:34 PM »
Okay, i was starting:

in PortalBlocks.php i create a new function:
Code: [Select]
function sp_unread($parameters, $id, $return_parameters = false)
{

  global $context, $settings, $scripturl, $txt, $db_prefix, $user_info, $modSettings, $user_profile, $smcFunc;
echo '

';
}

then i call the function here (PHP-Block)
Code: [Select]
$blocks = array(
   array(
      'label' => 'Recent Posts',
      'type' => 'sp_recent',
      'parameters' => array('display' => 1),
   ),
   array(
      'label' => 'Recent Topics',
      'type' => 'sp_recent',
      'parameters' => array('type' => 1, 'display' => 1),
   ),
   array(
      'label' => 'Top Posters',
      'type' => 'sp_topPoster',
      'parameters' => array(),
   ),
   array(
      'label' => 'Calendar',
      'type' => 'sp_calendar',
      'parameters' => array(),
   ),
    array(
      'label' => 'Unread',
      'type' => 'sp_unread',
      'parameters' => array(),
   ),
);

global $txt;

$button_list = array();
foreach ($blocks as $id => $block)
{
   $txt['sp_bib_label_' . $id] = $block['label'];

   $button_list[] = array(
      'text' => 'sp_bib_label_' . $id,
      'image' => '',
      'lang' => true,
      'url' => '#sp_bib_' . $id . '" id="sp_bib_button_' . $id . '" onclick="sp_bib_change(' . $id . '); return false;',
   );
}

$button_list[0]['active'] = true;

echo '

   ', template_button_strip($button_list), '

';

foreach ($blocks as $id => $block)
{
   echo '
<div id="sp_bib_', $id, '"', $id != 0 ? ' style="display: none;"' : '', '>';

   $block['type']($block['parameters'], 0);

   echo '

';
}

echo '
';
[/quote]

But shows nothing when i click on the button. Can somebody help me with the code please ?

Here's your problem:

Code: [Select]
array(
      'label' => 'Unread',
      'type' => 'sp_unread',
      'parameters' => array(),
   ),

sp_unread is not a valid function.

Any other solutions for the problem
"Updated Topices" & "Recent Unread Topis" in this Block-in-Block-code ?

And about this hoovering-effect ?

You will need to do this in 3 steps, I think.

1) Create a custom block for "show unread"
2) Create a custom block for "show new replies"
3) Then, finally, do the blocks-in-blocks step.

You can see in index.php that ?action=unread maps to Recent.php --- function UnreadTopics.
You could create a custom php block with some code based on UnreadTopics
It is not necessary to put this in PortalBlocks.php. In fact, I recommend against it, since you would lose your work with the next upgrade...
