Unable to load the 'Portal' template.
« on: November 03, 2010, 09:41:18 PM »
Hello SP!

Currently, my forum (SMF 2.0 RC3) is not working after a manual install of SimplePortal 2.3.2.

Under the ?debug, I can access the entire site without errors, minus the "SIMPLEPORTAL" header under Admin.  I recieve the error "Unable to load the 'PortalAdmin' template" and obviously, can not edit it.

During the manual install, I followed the 2.0 RC3 parse on the SMF install page.  There were approximately 6 code errors, all of which I found except for two.  The line "\?(?:' . SID . ';)((?:board|topic" does not exist in the QueryString.php and Subs.php files, so I can not replace it with "\?(?:' . SID . ';)((?:board|topic|page".  However, I did find the line "\?((?:board|topic|page" but after toying with that a little bit I just can't make it work (I know nothing about coding)
EDIT:  Turns out my paste skills aren't that great, and I missed a character while pasting the new code.  However, the Portal and PortalAdmin templates still give errors.

If this is a simple fix I missed somewhere along the way in the instructions, I deeply apologize for my idiocy.  I also appreciate your time in this manner, and hope to hear from you soon!

I recieve the error "Unable to load the 'PortalAdmin' template"
Please check your default template directory for template.PortalAdmin.php

Thanks for nudging me in the right direction, AngelinaBelle!

I had to upload the template files in the /Themes directory from the install files to the current theme I'm using (now that I think back, I probably should have tried that sooner)

I apologize for the newbie question that started this, and look forward to future developments of SimplePortal.

It should be enough to have that file in the Themes/default.
It shouldn't need to be copied into every theme directory.
