portal not showing help
« on: November 14, 2010, 05:06:07 AM »
this is weird
admin and mods can see the portal boxes but not normal users or guests.
i have made sure all the boxes are ticked ie all pages, or everywhere etc
i have searched the forums for a solution and can't seem to find it
i've searched through the admin section of smf
nothing seems to work
please help

This is unusual. Please investigate the permissions on the individual blocks.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

hi thanks for the reply
yes i have checked the permissions loads of times and the only way i can get it to show is if i give regular users admin rights
thats using the smf permissions

i have checked the permissions for each block and everyone is ticked

i have finally found out what the problem was
i installed another forum on a new site and started all over again as a test
and when i installed sp it went straight to 'one member group' in the block settings
so i left it at that and hey presto it worked.
thats one trouble about someone else setting it up they adjust all the settings.

i can now mark this as solved thanks

One Member Group -- yes, that's the setting you want.  You don't want to require users to be "Regular Users" AND ALSO "Administrato".

I'm glad you fixed it.
