Thumbnails in Blocks on Portal
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:34:23 AM »
Hi,
Amazing Portal. I've tried them all. Thank you so much for developing this.

SMF 2.0.2
SimplePortal 2.3.4
Cargo Theme (I'm customizing it) by DzinerStudio

Since 2008 I've operated a scale modeling forum, www.scalemodeladdict.com. I am upgrading it from SMF 1.X to 2.X and adding SP. Everything is going fine however I'm in need of a point in the right direction.

I'm looking for information on how to add images (could be first attachments) to portal blocks such as Recent Articles, Posts, Topics etc... Our forum is of a very graphic nature and I'd like to be able to display more than a link on the portal. Also if there is code to include an excerpt that would greatly help me out.

I can find my way around PHP....just need to know if this can be done and some advice on how to get there. Thanks! Once I go live I'll be sure to leave a tip.

Scott.

I should also say that I realize/know how to enable articles, have them appear on home, define the character cutoff and show the category image.

Just looking for a way to assign a custom image per article...that would be awesome! and really allow the portal to have a 'magazine' type feel.

Thanks!

I have a Work in progress dev site running at dev.scalemodeladdict.com if you need to see any of my site.

Kinda found a solution for this. Basically if I post an inline image at the beginning of the article topic, float it left, and size it correctly - and disable the article category image - I get the result I'm looking for.

I simply show my writers how to setup the first post and all is well.

Thanks for this great, and uncomplicated, portal system.
