How to add "Pages"?
« on: February 06, 2014, 06:27:32 PM »
I actually know how to add the page just can't figure out how to 'link' to it from the Portal so others can see it?  :-[ I created it, named it and have it as page 1 since I don't have any other pages. Can anyone give me some advice? And I hope I'm not going to feel really dumb when I fine out!  :0

I have the 2.3.5 Simple Portal and 2.0.7 SM

Hi enmom and welcome to SimplePortal!

SimplePortal does not contain a default way to link to the pages.  This is because there are so many ways you might like to do this.

The easiest way is to create a left-side or right-side block for links, as a custom BBC block.
In custom BBC block, simply include a list of links to all of your pages.  You can find out the proper URL for all of your pages by looking at the list of pages and copying the link to the page.  Then you can paste that URL into your custom BBC block.

Another option is to add the link to your menu.   There are a couple of ways to achieve this.  One is to use a "add buttons to menu" type of mod.  ONe by JohnCCCC is reported to work well with SimplePortal, but I have never tested it myself.

I hope you are able to get your links set up the way you like them.
Please to keep this website running, if you like SimplePortal, make a
one-time subscription. Thank you for your support.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

Here are some custom PHP block codes to create links if you wish (either block requires manually editing for your specifics):
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=11234.0

Manual editing to add links to the nav bar:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=261880.0
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Buttons_-_How_do_I_add_buttons_to_SMF_2.0

There are also SMF mods to add things to the navigation bar:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=381
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1421
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2657
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3249
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1402

.. the last 4 links to mods are a little out of date however they may work using emulation.

Just search the word menu on the SMF mod site to see all the various mods that were designed to add custom links to the nav bar (1 mod changes the logo to links).
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;basic_search=menu

All you do is make the url for the new tab the SP page's full url.

Regards.
