SMF1.1.13 with SP2.3.3
« on: February 24, 2011, 02:10:35 PM »
I've upgrade to SP2.3.3 and I got this message:

An Error Has Occurred!
Unable to load the 'Portal' template.

Now I don't have access to the admin area.
Any help, to solve this problem.
Thanks.

It seems that SMF managed to edit your files, but did not manage to copy the SimplePortal files to your directories.

You are missing the file /Themes/default/Portal.template.php. You should copy it from the install set into your Themes/default folder.

Since this is the case, you might also be missing all the other files.
Please extract these files from the package and copy them to the directories they belong in.

You are probably having this problem because of some permission problems on your site.
Either the permissions are set incorrectly, or the files belong the the wrong user. To correct CHOWN problems, you may have to work with your host.

I've done a fresh installation of SMF1.1.13 with SP2.3.3 but, I still have the same error when I use the 'old' database (before upgrading).

You are still having the same problem.  It seems that SMF cannot put the SimplePortal files in your Themes/default directory.

You can talk to your host about things that might be preventing SMF from copying files into that directory (perhaps the user who owns that directory is not the same user who "runs" php for your subdomain)

Or you can look at the manual install instructions for SimplePortal and copy those files into place yourself.

One possibility is that the file ownership (CHOWN) is not set up correctly:
What user does php run as? What user owns the files and directories in your forum?

One user recently solved a similar problem this way:
The problem was that I had old themes that no longer existed. Once I deleted them, it installed fine.

Finally, if you just cannot figure out the reason for the problem, you can do a manual install.
Please follow the instructions here to get started with a manual install:http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems
