SMF Credit Copyright Link Error on SimplePortal Front Page
« on: October 12, 2012, 07:35:39 AM »
SMF 2.02.  SimplePortal  2.3.5  Customised theme based on curve, but similar error apparent on default curve theme.  SimplePortal configured in Front Page mode.

SMF 2.0.2 copyright link in forum directs correctly to http://www.nthwgaming.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=credits

SMF 2.0.2 copyright link in portal front page directs incorrectly to http://www.nthwgaming.co.uk/?action=credits, i.e. the forum part of the link has gone missing.

As far as I can see the copyright link is correct from other pages creates with SimplePortal.

It's not a biggie, but a bit weird.  Any thoughts please?

Do you have installed mod PrettyUrls?
But for me it looks like SP is running in Standalone mode.

SP is being run in the Root of the website....
unlike the forum is being run out of a sub folder..!!
as a foot note:
i went from a SMF 1.1.11 to SMF2 RC3 with out any problems what so ever, first of all de-install all Mods, converted to RC3, then installed SP2.3.2, then installed the required Mods.

No pretty urls mod installed

SP's admin config page says it is in front page mode.

Yes the SMF forum is in the /forum folder whilst the SP front page is called from the root.  I thought that was a standard setup?

not to sure if that is a standard setup, i run mine all out of the root.... or all out of a folder... or sub.domain

hmm, it's always possible I've got something confused?

SP was installed as a package to the SMF forum so will also have been written to the /forum subfolders.

But I also needed anyone arriving at the root of my site to view the portal page.  Hence I followed :http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=set_up_standalone_portal.  thus the links to the website root, and indeed "home" button when in the forum, are directed to the http://www.nthwgaming.co.uk/index.php which is in fact the portalstandalon.php file amended to include:
Code: [Select]
global $sp_standalone;

// Should be the full path!
$forum_dir = '/var/www/vhosts/nthwgaming.co.uk/httpdocs/forum';
that same portalstandalone file can also be found in the /forum subfolder.

SP's admin config page says it is in front page mode.

if your running the portalstandalone.php option then i am sure your SP's admin config page under "Portal Mode" should be set at standalone and not front page

or have i missunderstood something..

Changing the setting to standalone mode has made no difference.  I believe from reading the http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=set_up_standalone_portal that the main change in the setting is the link within the "home" and "forum" menu buttons.

movedgoalposts, you are correct.
It sounds as though you have set up your standalone page correctly, and I have also noticed that simple portal generally runs just fine in front page mode, even if you have a standalone page.

The issue is the semi-prettification of the URL in the link to the credits page.

That line is set in your Theme, in index.english.php
Code: [Select]
$forum_copyright = '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=credits" (etc.) Where $scripturl had already been set in cleanRequest, in QueryString.php
Code: [Select]
$scripturl = $boardurl . '/index.php';, and checked again in loadTheme (Load.php).

So, if the 'index.php' part has been left off, I would check in QueryString.php for changes to the SMF code.
You might go through the manual install instructions for each of your mods, and search for anything to do with scripturl, to see if any of your mods mess with it.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

Thanks for the pointer.  This will no doubt test my lack of coding skills as I try and find what messed with what.  I could be some time .....

I think that one place to start would be with the manual parse pages for each of the mods you have installed, to see if any of them have messed with scripturl.
