The error with the footer will be fixed when the next version of the portal is released.

I am sure there is some kind of workaround in the mean time.
1) Please validate the HTML.  If there were any bad HTML, it could contribute to the problem
2) Have a look at the site with IE's developers tools or the FF Firebug plug-in.  It helps you see the box model for all the elements, and trace the CSS applied to them. You can even fiddle with changing things on the fly, to figure out what you want to do to your files.

I offer the same advice -- first make sure you have no broken HTML, then start trying to track down where things go wrong.
If you offer a link, I may be able to help.

SimplePortal 2.3.3 looks to put its copyright notice right after "Simple Machines LLC" in the copyright line.
If it cannot find "Simple Machines LLC", it sticks its copyright notice at the very end of the output -- right before the </body> tag, regardless of the theme used.

In SMF 2.0, "Simple Machines LLC" is not used. It sticks the copyright notice at the end of the output. So it is doing exactly what it was designed to do here. Everything is perfect :)
If you want to change this behavior, just download Sinan's new Subs-Portal.php.
