Block link color
« on: May 13, 2012, 09:49:03 AM »
Hello!
Is it possible to change link colors in chosen block?
For example, if I want links in my Recent topics block to be in green color, where to change that?
I looked in portal.css, but no luck  :-X

I should really keep my mouth shut as I do not know the answer  :P  but cant resist trying!

I think simple portal uses the theme css for most things - so that is where you would change it. But that would affect all your forum.
Maybe you can override that with your own css in a custom block. So you would need to get the code for the recent topics (there is already a custom one in the blocks section) , then modify that to use your css. I can't help with the details, and I may be wrong. And there could be a better solution if someone else replies.

I think that the only way to do this with specifically chosen blocks would require the Block Title box to support HTML. Unfortunately they currently do not.

Each simple portal block can be set to use a default style , or you can create your own styling.  When you edit the block, at the bottom of the editor page, you have the ability to assign your own title and body classes.  Of course that then requires you to set up your css for that style and that would allow you to then change your font colours for links and things.  I suspect if you go to the forum's index.css you could set your new styles.  I've not actually tried it out though.

movedgoalposts is correct.

The way to do this is with a custom style class.
You would have to add this custom class to one of your CSS files, like index.css or portal.css.

If you add it to portal.css, you need to save it someplace else handy -- portal.css is replaced with every new SimplePortal install, and you'll have to add it in again afterwards.

Suppose you want all the links in your block to be green.

To the desired blocks, add the custom class greenlinks

Next, create a new style class called "greenlinks"
To a css file, add something along the lines of:
Code: [Select]
.greenlinks a:link, .greenlinks a:visited, .greenlinks a:hover, .greenlins a:active
{color: green;}
As you learn more, you can get fancier and more complicated.
Please to keep this website running, if you like SimplePortal, make a
one-time subscription. Thank you for your support.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?
