Gallery Block - Filtering Albums [Solved]
« on: November 30, 2009, 11:30:53 AM »
Hi,

I'm running Simple Portal 2.3.1 on SMF 2.0 RC2 and currently have a Gallery Block on the portal home page showing latest additions to the gallery, in my case SMF Media Gallery 2.0.4.

I would like to be able to not show certain albums in the gallery block and wonder if it is possible to filter them out by modifying the PortalBlocks.php file in this section:

Code: [Select]
$request = $smcFunc['db_query']('','
SELECT
p.id_picture, p.commenttotal, p.filesize, p.views, p.thumbfilename,
p.filename, p.height, p.width, p.title, p.id_member, m.member_name,
m.real_name, p.date, p.description
FROM {db_prefix}gallery_pic AS p
LEFT JOIN {db_prefix}members AS m ON (m.id_member = p.id_member)
WHERE p.approved = {int:is_approved}
ORDER BY {raw:type}
LIMIT {int:limit}',
array(
'is_approved' => 1,
'type' => $type ? 'RAND()' : 'p.id_picture DESC',
'limit' => $limit,
)

Many thanks,

Russ

Sources/PortalBlocks.php

Code: (Find) [Select]
$items = getMediaItems(0, $limit, $type ? 'RAND()' : 'm.id_media DESC');
Code: (Replace) [Select]
$items = getMediaItems(0, $limit, $type ? 'RAND()' : 'm.id_media DESC', true, array(), 'a.id_album NOT IN (1, 2, 3)');
1, 2, 3 would be the id of albums to exclude.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Many thanks SiNaN, works great ;D.

For anyone looking for a similar solution for SMF Gallery (opposed Media Gallery) see the thread here.

Hello there, i was searching for showing only defined albums from Aeva in SMF 1.1.12 and SP 2.3.3
I thought this topic was right for me, so i modify my PortalBlocks.php in this way:
Find:
Code: [Select]
$items = aeva_getMediaItems(0, $limit, $type ? 'RAND()' : 'm.id_media DESC');and replace with:
Code: [Select]
$items = aeva_getMediaItems(0, $limit, $type ? 'RAND()' : 'm.id_media DESC', true, array(), 'a.id_album  IN (18, 19, 20)');Where 18,19,20 are the id for my desired albums.
But i obtain the following error:

Code: [Select]
Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /web/htdocs/forumb/Sources/PortalBlocks.php on line 1
I'm a newbie, be patient :)
Thank you in advance

Code: [Select]
function aeva_getMediaItems($start = 0, $limit = 1, $sort = '', $all_albums = true, $albums = array(), $custom = '', $custom_file = 'thumb')
{

So you might prefer something more like
Code: [Select]
$items = aeva_getMediaItems(0, $limit, $type ? 'RAND()' : 'm.id_media DESC', true, array(18,19,20))

Ok Angelina, i did not see your reply here :)
i just try, but...my block now show only pictures from the first id that i put in the array, in this case from album id 18, and if i put 19 for first it shows only pictures from the album id 19 and so on.
I can't explain this thing.....

That's odd. It's not supposed to be that way.

I've used this:

Code: [Select]
global $sourcedir;
loadLanguage('Aeva');
@include_once($sourcedir . '/Aeva-Subs.php');
echo preg_replace('~<div class="highslide-maincontent">.*?</div>.*?</div>~', '',
           aeva_listItems(
                  aeva_getMediaItems(0, 5, 'RAND()', true, array(8,9,17)
            ), false, '', 5));
And I get stuff from all 3 listed albums

if i use this code in a custom php block...it works!
so, maybe i have some problem in portalblocks.php!  :0

since it works i think to another problem: if i create a sub album in one of the albums in the array, the only way to show it ...is to add the new id to the array!
Could exist a better solution??

There probably is a better solution, but you'd have to poke through the AEVA code a bit.
That's how I found the bit I shared with you.  I think. I may have taken from one of bluedevil's old posts, though.
