SP 2.3.3 & SMF 2 RC5
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:14:40 PM »
Is Simple Portal 2.3.3 compatible with SMF 2 RC5 which I have just installed?

If the above two do make good bedfellows, can someone please link me to a good guide on uploading and installing Simple Portal.

As my username suggests, this is all new to me...so be gentle!

Yes. SimplePortal 2.3.3 is compatable with SMF 2RC5.

Please see the documentation at SMF on how to download and install packages.
And have a look through the documentation here (see the button marked "Docs" above)

If you have any specific questions along the way, just ask.

Thanks

Read these: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs

Also note one important detail: SimplePortal has not been officially confirmed to be 100% compatible with SMF 2.0 RC5.

This is true. Our founder, Sinan, has not judged it necessary to make any changes in SimplePortal to accomodate the upgrade from SMF RC4 to RC5. Since our founder is also a core SMF developer, I think his judgement is pretty sound on this issue.

I think there is a high probability that Sinan is correct, that no additional changes to SimplePortal will be necessary. There is always, of course, a small probability that he will be proven wrong. A small probability.
