English Support / Shout Box will not post

Running SMF 2.0.15

Simple Portal 2.3.6

Forum: http://seniorsworldwide.net/index.php?action=forum

I am trying to install a shout box, I installed SMFPacks Shoutbox 1.1, set it up. Then I went to SP made a Shout Box block, set that up.

The Shout Box shows but when you type a message in, it will not post.. If you open The Open Popup, and type in a message and hit send, away it goes.

There is an edit for SMF Packs Shoutbox, I look and I am up to date with that..

Any ideas as to what is going on..

Thanks

Ron..

Mod Requests / Re: Shoutbox message box scrollable buffer requested
« Last post by aegersz on June 20, 2018, 06:00:13 PM »
I already have the ability to both delete and edit thanks to your recent mods.

this thread came about because sometimes i would spend a fait bit of timing marking up my shout (with colors, fonts, sizes etc.) and then noticed some error after posting it.

there is no way to see the markup in EDIT so that's why i wondered if i could implement a scrollable buffer of the raw shout, BBCode and all.

i moved to UTF-8 years ago and this is a relatively new problem.

it's not a worry but i was wondering why, that's all.

don't worry about it, it's just puzzling ... thanks for trying to recreate it anyway.

btw, it happens for the "<" and ">" symbols also.

Are you using utf8? I cannot reproduce it on our shoutbox.

as it says, some characters undergo this odd translation to &xyx eg.:

"hi" -> "hi"

Custom Coding / Re: Board News modification
« Last post by natasa on June 15, 2018, 06:03:05 AM »
Hello Chen Zhen.

I was thinking, it would be nicer to be name of forum board and author name,
something like:

Posted on 'Board name' by 'Author name'

or similar to that,

and 'Board name' and 'Author name' to be links to that board and that author.

Thanks.

Hello natasa,

Your request requires edits to the ../Sources/PortalBlocks.php file.
Attach that file from your forum Sources folder and I will make the changes for you.

Would you like it to just show the board name as a link to that board?

Custom Coding / Board News modification
« Last post by natasa on May 28, 2018, 12:20:18 AM »
Hello!
I would like to show, on Board News block, name of forum board post belong to, instead of date, poster, number of views and comments.
So, if I post something on "Custom Coding" board, I would like on Board News to be written "Custom Coding" instead of date, poster name, etc.
How can I do that?
Thanks.

English Support / Re: How to install an StandAlone simpleportal?
« Last post by Chen Zhen on May 24, 2018, 01:46:24 PM »
With this example the URLs & PATHs must be changed to your specific environment specs.

Example:

Your URL is:
https://example.com

which has the path of:
../home/mypath/public_html

The URL that you have your SMF forum is:
https://example.com/forum

which has the path of:
../home/mypath/public_html/forum

After installing Simple Portal into SMF via the package manager you take the file located at:
../home/mypath/public_html/forum/PortalStandalone.php

and move it to public_html + rename the file to:
../home/mypath/public_html/index.php

Log in to SMF as Admin & then navigate to:
Admin -> Simple Portal -> Configuration -> General Settings

Set the Portal Mode to: Standalone
Set the Standalone URL to: https://example.com

SAVE your settings

Now navigate to:
Admin -> Server Settings -> Cookies and Sessions

Add a number to the cookie name (making it different than it was originally)
Make sure Enable local storage of cookies is unchecked (disabled).
Make sure Use subdomain independent cookies is checked (enabled).

SAVE your settings

Now navigate to:
Admin -> Maintenance -> Forum Maintenance -> Routine

Perform task: Empty the File Cache

Done.

Now https://example.com should show your home portal page.
