Block Custom Display Options
« on: April 20, 2010, 02:55:15 PM »
Hi again.

I'm trying to show a block on all pages associated with a specific board except for the board topic index page.

Call me lost!

I was thinking of using Advanced Settings, selecting the board,  and then setting the custom display settings to -~board.

But this did not work.

Any ideas?

Update: I found http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=5092.0 describing how to hardcode a block to appear on the action=post pages for a specific board.

That's half way there....

How can I adapt this to also show the block on the topic page?

Code: [Select]
if ($block_id == 205 && $action == 'post' && $board == 'b' . 27)
      return true;

Do you want this to happen for just one topic, or do you want it to happen for any topic on that board?

I would like to create a block for each separate board that will display on all topics for their respective boards, but not the /index.php?board= page.

It's sounds like it would be easy to create a block that will simply display across the entire board except for the /index.php?board= page itself.  But the advance settings of  -~board|XX.0 doesn't have the desired effect.

If we can modify that code to show blocks on topic pages we cold just repeat the code for each board.  Not perfect but it would work.

Code: (Find (Sources/Subs-Portal.php)) [Select]
// If no display info and/or integration disabled and we are on portal; show it!
Code: (Replace) [Select]
// Hardcoded display options!
if ($block_id == 1 && $board == 'b' . 46)
return true;

// If no display info and/or integration disabled and we are on portal; show it!

Change the 1 and 46 as required for the block and board ids respectively.

Is theat what you need, or do you want it a little more like this:
Code: (Replace) [Select]
   // Hardcoded display options!
 if ($block_id == 21)
 {
  if ( $board == 'b' . 46 || ($action == 'post' || isset($_GET['topic'])) )
   return true;
  else
   return false;
 }
   // If no display info and/or integration disabled and we are on portal; show it!

Unfortunately, this will return true even if the portal is disabled. Making that logic better would require re-ordering a few of the checking steps...
