Alright, need support with install, anyone? pl0x?
« on: December 03, 2011, 08:58:28 AM »
Soo.. I've installed SimplePortal before with no problems at all. Note that the forums directory was /root/Forum/ .
Right now My forum (SMF 2.0.1) is in the root folder, so when trying to install the SimpleForum thru Package manager, it requires me to have additional CHMOD for the root folder.. which needs to be writable (being 750 atm). I cannot change the root folders chmod..
Anyone could help with that? I do have the correct chmods for all the required folders.. do have a "temp" folder within "packages" and again, with a proper chmod.

So yeah, any ideas?

You can change permissions for public_html folder (root) with ftp software but i wouldnt do that. I guess something happened to the permissions for the packages directory or something. Im not expert  :P so only suggestions/guess.

Sometimes moving the forum to another folder you need to run the repair_settings.php script - can be found on the smf site. I would try that if you just moved all the files into root from another folder.

If you did just move all the files the portal also has a setting for where it should be ... i guess repair settings wouldnt change that - only smf forum setting. When I had trouble moving a forum from a subdirectory I just set up a clean install of smf in the root and put the database back in through phpmyadmin. Used the repair settings script and then put the mods/themes back in - including the portal. Done in no time at all.

How did you install SMF in /root/ if you did not have write permission in root?
Please to keep this website running, if you like SimplePortal, make a
