Upgrade from 2Sp2.3.3 to 2.3.4 failed
« on: January 26, 2012, 05:38:54 PM »
Hey all, I'm looking for some help please. Not great with SMF / SP - just have a site up and running.

All was ok on SMF 2 RC5 and SP 2.3.3.
Then I tried to upgrade to SP 2.3.4. I took a backup of the Forum. De-installed SP.
Could not do anything in SMF (maybe hasty of me - cannot remember in full) copied my backup back into the directories.
SP 2.3.3. show in list of Mod Packs but not installed (in General info I am on 2.3.3)
I tried to install 2.3.4 - had plenty errors
I tried to install 2.3.3 - had same errors
In desperation and without knowledge I tried to install 2.3.4., despite the errors - obviously did not work
I cannot remove them either.
In the meantime I updated to SMF 2.0.1 and then 2.0.2 without a problem
Problems
- the shoutbox did not auto refreshed.(tried different refresh settings but did not help) as well as icons ie Smiley’s were gone
created a new shoutbox (both now visible in list of shouboxes)
when I try to install the new shoutbox I get the error:
Table 'thehaert_DaCDB.DaC_sp_functions' doesn't exist
File: /home/thehaert/public_html/DaC/forum/Sources/Subs-PortalAdmin.php
Line: 104

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0.2, while your database is at version 2.0. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.
_ I removed the old shoutbox from the Blocklist

- in Blocks, i.e. Who's online get the word Dot instead of the symbol (checked but the file is in the location)

- installed MODs:
SMF 2.0.1 and 2.0.2
FantasticSmilies
Avea Media 1.4w
SP 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 are present in list but not installed according to Mod Package list

Errors when attempting SP 2.3.4. install:

All is kind of working but not quite. I would not want to lose the Galleries with details an comments, posts and calendar would be good but I think I could cope with the loss. Have to say that I get nervous to move about in the settings of the PHPs

Can you please suggest how I go from here?
Thanks in advance.

Files which state Test failed require a manual edit.

No information on the portal is lost.

Daily backups mean less headaches

Brack1,

Thanks for the reply. The question is then what is the data I have to edit in the files and where do I get hold of it? As far as I can see the Test does not show what it tries to edit. it shows only the attempts and whether it fails or passes.

Thanks for some steering into the right direction.

Ta
Nils

When you see that list, you can see a little icon of a pencil and paper.  Click on it.  It will show you exactly what it is trying to edit. You can then look for something approximately like this (probably already changed by another mod) and do the modification yourself.
