Topic: Can't uninstall 2.3.2 "Unable to find package file!" error in SMF

Hi -

I'm trying to uninstall 2.3.2 on my site http://JazzWorks.com so I can install 2.3.4 but I get an SMF Package Manager error "Unable to find package file!" Does anyone have a remedy?

Double check the file name in your Packages folder.
It should read SimplePortal_2.3.2.zip
(make sure no extra periods)

It is not visible in my Packages folder.  On other sites I operate I was able to upgrade with no probs but here the problem is that I can't see 2.3.2 in Packages so I can't uninstall it. It is installed though - as reflected on the bottom of the page at http://JazzWorks.com

It's still showing 2.3.2 but if all else fails simply delete all SP files in your cPanel or FTP  including Simple Portal back up files and then install the latest version. Then clear your site cache.
It usually is not needed but keep backups of all of your block, page and article files just in case you need to replace them.

Caution: If you follow this advice from ARG, it may break your forum, as the SimplePortal edits to the forum will still be in SMF, but the SimplePortal files they are trying to load won't be there.

So it sounds like
1) Simple Portal 2.3.2 is listed in the package manager
2) but the package itself is not present in packages
3) the Package Manager complains that the package file is not present in the Packages directory.

My advice to you is to put a copy of the SimplePortal 2.3.2 zip file in your Packages directory.

Then try the uninstall again.
