Lost my Portal
« on: February 05, 2012, 10:07:07 AM »
I just upgraded to SMF 1.1.16 and I lost my Portal. I even select it in the Admin area and it deafults back to my Forum.

I uninstalled the SMF update with no Luck.

I was using SP 2.3.3

I searched here with no Luck.

I also tried to install 2.3.4 with the following Errors So I did not complete the install:

Sometimes other modifcations (or perhaps previous manual edits) that previously edited those same files have altered them in such a way that SimplePortal can not find its place markers to insert its edits. When this happens you will need to manually parse (edit) those same files in order to install SimplePortal fully & properly.
Here is a link to the SMF wiki for manually parsing edits:  http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Error_in_mod_installation

This is a lot of failed tests.
This makes me suspicious.

Did you uninstall 2.3.3? It may be that some 2.3.3 code is holding you back from 2.3.4 installation.
I'm grasping at straws, though.

How many mods do you have installed?

Actually its just not Portal _ i am also at the SMF forums asking as I lost access both Admin and Main menu to several mods (Gallery, Member map, etc).

This all happened after upgrading both SMF to 1.1.16 and SP.

It sounds as though AngelinaBelle is correct.
You may have ignored installation/uninstallation errors at some point?

This post/thread may give you a solution where someone had a similar issue that was resolved:

Got it Fixed - I did a complete Manual Parse and now It is back on, I was also able to get my Member map back. I never had a SMF update overwrite all my Mods like the 1.1.16 did. Very frustrating and to top it off - My gallery needs the new Mod as the old was discontinued.

Well at least I got portal going.

Thanks all!

I'm glad you got it fixed.

When I do upgrades to SMF, I never know how many files might be involved.
So I tend to uninstall all mods (in reverse order I installed them), then re-install them afterwards.

It saves me a lot of headaches.
