Not yet, SMF 2.1 is still Alpha.
I tried to use SP 2.3.5 with SMF 2.1 (few weeks ago) and didn't worked well, so I don't think that something changed.

If you bear in mind the usual release times for smf.

The alpha is out now.
Expect Beta1 sometime in ooh.. 2014
Beta2, maybe 2015
2.1 RC early 2016..

Final release late 2016..

I wouldnt worry just yet :D

It's a good thing we invested in VBulletin then as they are closer to gold release of their VB5 Connect. >:-D

Yeah.. but now development is open, everyone can send fixes, so it will be faster than releasing 2.0.

And please, stay on topic.

That remains to be seen if open developement works in its favor. More developers time will be spent on fixing the fixes than on looking for what's broke and fixing it right.

Questions about SMF development are pretty interesting, and you will probably get better answers about that on the simplemachines forum.

As for questions about Simple Portal development -- we do not have anyone currently working on compatability with SMF 2.1.

The most obvious issue is changes in the theme.
Other issues may take more time to ferret out.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?
