Portal Redirection not working
« on: February 24, 2014, 12:34:48 PM »
Hi - I have tried checking and unchecking the portal redirection box but nothing changes.

Any ideas?

Welcome to Simple Portal!
What are you expecting to happen when you use that checkbox, and what do you see?

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

I am expecting that when someone goes to my site that they land on the portal page first and not the forum page. No matter what I select it always defaults to the forum.

I think you just need to set Simple Portal configuration to "Front page" mode.
That is if you are not using the portal at a different url.

Simple Portal> Configuration>General Settings

Portal Mode= Front page

I have it set to Front page. I think it's a bug. I have other forums that work as expected. But for some reason this one just won't work.

I am starting to think this new version has a bug.

The portal redirection is not working correctly. Can someone please tell me what the code should be so I can change it manually?

I tried installing an older version and still have the same issue.

If you go to my site www.pbanalytics.com you will see what I am talking about

The home page/landing page is not working...

Looking at your site there is no 'Forum' link in the menu.
I think its a problem with your menus... A menu mod? The custom theme has menu options?

Maybe that custom theme is causing trouble as it added a 'Blog' menu item. If you have altered the SMF menu that might be your problem.
One way to check maybe would be to switch theme back to the SMF default curve theme (for everybody), click save and refresh and see if there is a 'home' and 'forum' menu item.

Maybe you did not install Simple Portal correctly - it did not edit the files operating the menus (I guess its sources.php but you need to check that).

2. Maybe you have changing the configuration settings?

Should be set to 'portal mode=front page'. And nothing else... nothing in Standalone url.

General Settings

Portal Mode
Maintenance Mode
Standalone URL

I'm using the same versions as you so its not a bug here. You need to figure out if its an install problem of not editing all the files or the theme, or some other interaction from a mod.

I did not make any custom modifications as I had mentioned before. The reason you don't see a forum button now is because I got sick of messing around with it and just decided to use "integration mode" instead of the front page. I had the issue with default theme as well. No clue what the issue was/is but I am moving on from it. And I feel liberated!

Thanks to everyone for trying to help.

If it's a bug I'd like to solve it. However, I can't see why that would happen. Any chance of providing temporary admin access for me via pm so I can check it for you?
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
