Shoutbox issues in SP 2.3RC1
« on: August 09, 2009, 12:19:05 PM »
Hello,
I installed SP 2.3 RC1 in my testforum (SMF 1.1.10) and inserted a shoutbox as top block.

First issue:
This shoutbox is displayed always with the same height, regardless of the set value in the shoutbox setting "Height (pixel)".

Second issue:
I found no setting to allow guests read-only access to the shoutbox. Until now I use a very old Shoutbox mod which allows guests to read but not to shout. Will this be possible in the SP shoutbox?

Furthermore (but minor) there is no unit given at the label of the setting "Auto refresh", sure as I testet it it is seconds, but it should be explained there.

Regards,
Dirk

1) I thought I fixed that. Probably forgot to.

2) Shoutbox doesn't support guest shouting. So if you allow guests to see it, they will just see it, but they won't be able to shout.

3) You're right.

Thanks for the reports! I'll log them later. ;)
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Thats fine for me.

Thank you for your reply, I'm looking forward the final release  :)

Two issues so far with my install.

1: Guests do not see the the right edge of the user info block. it is hidden. Logging in fixes it. See attached sp001.jpg

2: If you allow bbc images in the shoutbox and someone inserts a large one, the shout button gets pushed out of the block and you can not scroll over to it or to the delete button. You also lose the vertical scroll slider. See sp003.jpg attached. This is with core default theme but modified css. I have the overflow set to hidden.

Attached image sp002.jpg is how it looks with the core css file. You can get to the delete button if the overflow is not hidden.

You can view it live at www.stangfix.com/fixtest
I've set up a member for testing, pm me for credentials if you want to see it.

The site is a fresh install of SMF 1.1.10 and SP 2.3 rc1 running a two week old copy of my functioning database. It is running on the default core theme with only css modifications.

Thanks for all the great work!

With IE8, I see the right side of the user info block, and the image in the top block runs over into the right block.

With IE8 in compatability mode, the right side of the user info block seems cut off, and top block image seems cropped to fit the center block area.

Is this behavior related to the shoutbox?

The other issues are because content width is too high, but block width is too low. We can't do much about it.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

I installed SP 2.3 RC1 in my testforum (SMF 2.0 RC 1.2) and inserted a shoutbox as a left blok.

Guests don't have permissions to see the shoutbox but guests see this:

The shoutbox is displayed normal for members.

There is a different between block show permission and shout box permission =). For example if you disallow guest in shoutbox it does not mean that it will not show as block. The block have his own permission to show or not showing ;).
