totally confused
« on: October 06, 2008, 11:58:59 AM »
Ok i am having a really odd issue. Early this morning everything was fine with my site. Now all of a sudden it's giving  Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /www/oxyhost.com/d/i/g/digfrostbyte/htdocs/forum/Sources/Display.php on line 1256 when i try to view a post. I've gone over this file about 30 times even took the default display.php from the smf install files redid all the edits by hand and reuploaded. it's giving a error on a line that only has the ?> Could some one look over this file and see if i have over looked something that would be causing this?

Unexpected $end means the file never ended. This usually happens when you have unclosed { or } brackets.

I'll look through your file and see what is wrong.

Thank you I would really appreciate it. I've been driving myself nuts all day trying to figure this out. Kinda sucks I can view topics I can even reply to them if i use the add comment link on the portal but I can not view posts on the forum it's self if i click them. Just in case it would help out here is a link to my site. http://digitalfrostbyte.co.cc don't laugh to hard it's still a work in progress  :P

The display function is not closed ;)
Code: [Select]
if(!empty($_REQUEST['view']) && $_REQUEST['view'] == 'article') {
          // Need for fetching some data.
          require_once($sourcedir . '/Subs-SPortal.php');

          $context['article'] = getArticleInfo(null, null, $context['topic_first_message']);
          $context['article'] = $context['article'][0];

          $context['category'] = getCategoryInfo($context['article']['category']['id']);
          $context['category'] = $context['category'][0];

          // Check for quick reply.
          checkSubmitOnce('register');
}

should normal look like:
Code: [Select]
// Are we going to use the article template?
if(!empty($_REQUEST['view']) && $_REQUEST['view'] == 'article') {

// Need for fetching some data.
require_once($sourcedir . '/Subs-SPortal.php');

$context['article'] = getArticleInfo(null, null, $context['topic_first_message']);
$context['article'] = $context['article'][0];

$context['category'] = getCategoryInfo($context['article']['category']['id']);
$context['category'] = $context['category'][0];

// Check for quick reply.
checkSubmitOnce('register');
}
}

So one } is missing there, i think you did not copy it on your manual install... (It's to easy to oversee on the installer :X)...

Bye

Your right I did over look that. how ever it was the SMF mod parsers fault..lol. If you go to the smf site and then view the instructions for a 1.1.6 install it doesn't have it correct in that section of the code either. Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. Maybe now I can get the site fixed 8)
