Lightbox and simpleportal
« on: May 05, 2010, 02:29:18 AM »
Hello, on my website www.bliksemdetectie.nl i have install the lightbox mod together with simpleportal.

Both are working great but....   only on images.

On the frontpage 1 have a block with some url in it. What i want is that these urls also working together with the lightbox mod.

i tried it as i did on the images but nothing showing up.

Hope somebody here can help me.

I see several blocks with highslide effects.
Can you be specific about which one is not working, and how?

Also -- why you do have two mods installed with highslide effects (Aeva Media and the Lightbox mod).

I am not sure if there could be some kind of conflict...

I am confused.

In the block labelled "Bliksemdetectie menu" there are links to several URLs.  There are no images in that block.

Is this what you expect to happen? Or do you expect to see something else in this block?

Is this block a custom bbc or html block for these links?

Highslide is usually used to show a thumbnail, popup a preview, and perhaps provide a link to download the really big image.

The Integrate Lightbox mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1158) says it also works with textual links to images.

But your menu has a link to a shoutbox, a link to /lightening/index.php, etc. These are not images. When you click on these links, you need to go to these pages, not view a pop-up image.

i think we got some misunderstanding here :) lightbox can show pictures aswell other sites in a lightboxpupop. i got several, not smf, websites were this is working perfectly.

Ik shall look further why this is not working on a smf / simpleportal website.

I am sorry that I am not familiar with the Lightbox Mod you are using.
I have only seen highslide used for popping up image previews, as AevaMedia does.

I am sorry. Would you mind if I moved this topic to a custom coding board?

Normally, what do you do to make a textual link to a non-image page do the special lightbox thing, and what would that look like?

In that example, there is some javascript attached to the story. I suppose this is managed by some add-on to Joomla? You are using some special tag to accomplish this?  Does lightbox do this kind of thing in SMF by using some BBC tag? is the custom block on the lightening observation website a custom BBC block?

I am still confused.
Can you use the tag [lighbox =smf] in posts on the www.bliksemdetectie.nl  forum?

You say
Quote
think its a problem in the script
-- which script?

You also say
Quote
already start a topic on the SMF board
-- which topic?

Have you tried this tag in a SimplePortal BBC block or page? Do you require help with simpleportal?

I am still not sure I understand.

* Can you confirm that you have installed a lightbox mod on your SMF forum?
* Can you be specific about which lightbox mod you have installed on your SMF forum?
* Do you think that the lightbox mod is performing as it should on your SMF + SimplePortal forum?

* Do you feel that your problem with the lightbox mod is caused by SimplePortal in some way?

Thank you. I think I understand now.

* The Integrate Lightbox mod for SMF is for images. http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1158

* This is the designed behavior of the Integrate Lightbox mod for SMF, and has nothing to do with SimplePortal.

I am sorry it took so long for me to understand your question. I was confused because you were expecting the Integrage Lightbox mod to do something it does not do. I would like this to be easier for you next time you ask a question here.

If you are unsure if SimplePortal is having an effect on "mod A", please read the documentation on "mod A" to find out what it does, and test "mod A" when SimplePortal is not installed, to see if it is doing what it should do.

Then, if installing SimplePortal causes a problem for "mod A", you will be able to very clearly describe what happens before and after SimplePortal.

Thank You, and good luck building your site.
