Shoutbox Control
« on: August 06, 2010, 12:38:54 PM »
I believe the SP Shoutboxes should have alot more control. I think Codes should be added to stop troublesome users and to make control of the shoutbox easier. Some of these codes could be;

/prune - Clears all shouts in the shoutbox
/prune username - Clears all shouts from a specified user (to replace the little red crossout)
/ban username - Bans a user
/unban username - Unbans a user

Maybe a page could also be placed in the shoutbox section of simpleportal displaying who is banned from the shoutbox?

Aswell as that i believe forum moderators should be allowed to use these codes (and delete shouts).

Thanks for reading, Nick.

The mechanism may be different, but shoutbox moderation is already planned for a future release of SimplePortal:

Hmm yes i have read this before, Does it also include quick and easy bans/unbans? I find it unfair to ban a user from the forum completely if they misbehave in the shoutbox.

You're wrong AngelinaBelle. That allows to users moderate shoutbox.

Does it also include quick and easy bans/unbans?
I guess isn't it.

Question: Is it also be possible to "edit shouts"? If not, then maybe is this also a good suggestion. :)

Hmm i also agree.. Maybe a double click on a shout allows this? Or like MYBB when you hold your click on the text?

I had a spammer 2 days ago that spammed my shoutbox with over 300 shouts. The only thing i could do was IP ban him and i had to remove all shouts via phpmyadmin which was ridiculous. These commands could help so much.
