Page link issues
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:05:01 AM »
I am using Smf 2.0 rc3, and sp 2.3.2.

www.mvgtuning.co.uk

Hi,

I am trying to link to some pages with just the index.php?page=page542 code but when you save it, it adds the http and then it errors.

If i add the link in full it causes the site to refresh as it should. Any advice please?

Please be more clear:
I am trying to link to some pages with just the index.php?page=page542 code
Where are you trying to put that link?  Why aren't you using a correct URL like http://www.mvgtuning.co.uk/index.php?page=page542

but when you save it,
when who saves what, where?
Quote
it adds the http
What is adding the http
Quote
and then it errors.
What does the error say, and where is the error?

"as it should" sounds like a good thing.  Why not do it that way?

Ok when i create a page i use the wysiwyg editor to add the links i need. when i  add http://www.mvgtuning.co.uk/index.php?page=page542 it works fine apart from the fact when you click on it the whole site reloads to that page

As far as I can tell, there are no links on page http://www.mvgtuning.co.uk/index.php?page=page542
Perhaps you are talking some other page that you want to link to the page you have mentioned here?

This sounds like normal browser behavior when you click on a link.

Please tell us more about what you are trying to accomplish.
Maybe you could show us a copy of what you are typing in.
If it is bbc, you can put it between [nobbc] tags.  If it is HTML, putting it between [code] tags should make it easy to read.

If you go to this page i have set a link to another page http://www.mvgtuning.co.uk/index.php?page=page4895
when you click that link it opens and new page rather than itself.

Usually you can use _self as the target but i dont seem to be able to.

Thanks

insted of using the hole link try this;

Code: [Select]
<A HREF="?page=page542"><b>More info Here</b></a>
it works for me on my site, opens in the same window.
as a foot note:
i went from a SMF 1.1.11 to SMF2 RC3 with out any problems what so ever, first of all de-install all Mods, converted to RC3, then installed SP2.3.2, then installed the required Mods.

Is that the problem? The browser was opening the link in a new page, but you wanted it to open in the same page?

This is not a SimplePortal issue.  It has to do with simplemachines BB codes.

deansmar is correct that using HTML is one way to control this behavior.
Of course, when using SMF bbcodes, you are always free to choose between [url] and [iurl] (simplemachines basic bbcodes http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=57)
