No Portal, no Admin Area after install
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:56:55 PM »
I have SMF2 RC2 with SP 2.3.1.
I upgraded successful to RC3 and tried to install SP 2.3.2 but after the installation there is no Portal (blocks etc) and no Admin area for the portal. In the end of the SP installation i got the message that the procedure was successful without errors!

Some notes:

1. SP is the first mod that i tried to install after the SMF upgrade to RC3.
2. In the beginning I had the packages/temp folder issue but i created one "temp" with 0777 CHMOD and worked ok for the SP installation.
3. In the end of the SP installation i got the message that the procedure was successful without errors!
4. I looked in "Sources" folder and a series of "PortalAdmin" files was installed.
5. I searched inside the Admin.php file for "sportal" entries and there was no such entries!
6. After that i have tried to install another mod (Ad Management) and this is installed without problems.

I have tried this in a live site and in the end i had to rollback via restore from a plesk-panel backup.

What could be wrong?

Did you uninstall the older version of SP first?

No. But i have made a SMF upgrade (not small update). After the upgrade there are no mods installed.

Uninstall SimplePortal. If all the edits "Fail" besides the file removals... then it was a faulty installation, and you should try again.

If this problem still persists, let me know what you have in your Forum Error Log. If you have anything like package_flush or similar... then it's an issue with your file permissions fr the FTP account SMF is using

Yes. This could be the case. Something that has to do with file owner permissions.

But why this is not happen with other mods?

I will try after 10 days again an will post again.

Is this issue solved? Or do you still get the same error?

I did not have made the uptate yet bacause my theme is not suporting the RC3 now. I am sure that is the file owner permissions responsible for the errors.
I will come back to report when i make the update.

Thanks.
