YouTube block....
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:24:17 PM »
I would really like to have a block for youtube videos.
Would be really cool to be able to have thumbnails of like 10 vids for users to choose from and then to run in the block.

I made one with an html block but for some reason that I have not found yet it disables my buttons when I use it.

vintagejetboats.com
The following is my code that I used

<img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/0r_ajyFyRAc/1.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='0r_ajyFyRAc' title='Video screenshot' /> <img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/a3aj2ZEzmtk/2.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='a3aj2ZEzmtk' title='Video screenshot' /> <img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/KVjJtWl7xfg/3.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='KVjJtWl7xfg' title='Custom title' /><br /><br />
<iframe id='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='640' height='385' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/4TLX9EHRQyk' frameborder='0'></iframe>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
      google.load("jquery", "1.4.4");
      google.setOnLoadCallback(function() {
          $('.yt-img').bind('click', function(event) {
            newurl = "http://www.youtube.com/embed/" + $(this).attr("alt");
            $("#youtube-player").attr("src",newurl);
          });
      });
    </script>

Adding a youtube video to a block has been covered before.
Daily backups mean less headaches

This is the code I use. It goes into an html block.

<center><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8oOzMAZ38Rg&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8oOzMAZ38Rg&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></center>

This is the code I use. It goes into an html block.

<center><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8oOzMAZ38Rg&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8oOzMAZ38Rg&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x006699&color2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></center>

I want to have other vids in thumbnails to chose from also in that box. If you plug my code into an html box you will see what I mean. It works except for killing my buttons on top :(

If you go to www.vintagejetboats.com/jeffindex.php you will see what I want to have going on in the block.
You'll notice on this page that the images randomize every time you refresh the page.

If you view the source you will see the same code as below.
My block won't randomize though. Same videos come up every time. ]:-(

The following is the code in my html block in SP

<div align="center">
   <img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/WyOZaAbVnA4/1.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='WyOZaAbVnA4' title='78Bahnerman' /> <img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/j3Po2eBGHe4/2.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='j3Po2eBGHe4' title='76 Bonneville' /> <img src='http://img.youtube.com/vi/4TLX9EHRQyk/3.jpg' width='130' height='97' border='0' class="yt-img" alt='4TLX9EHRQyk' title='CheckmateJetmate74' /><br /><br />

<iframe id='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='640' height='385' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/gcWPIvfXkj8' frameborder='0'></iframe>
        <script type="text/javascript">
     $(document).ready(function() {
          $('.yt-img').bind('click', function(event) {
            newurl = "http://www.youtube.com/embed/" + $(this).attr("alt");
            $("#youtube-player").attr("src",newurl);
          });
      });
    </script>

The AEVA Media and YIM mods do something like what you want, but not exactly.
With the Aeva Media gallery, you can put links to the youtube videos in an album, then have a block with "5 random items from that gallery" with thumbnails.
It doesn't have the right-in-the-page display screen, though.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

Random would be great with thumbnails below to be able to select others as well.
Check that link below, That's what I want but, I can't seem to get it to work on my site in a block.
http://www.vintagejetboats.com/jeffindex.php

Site is http://www.vintagejetboats.com/forum and uses Shortie's Ultimate Playroom Theme, I had one code that worked but it disabled my buttons on top. Never figured that one out. I wish I could locate Shortie because that dude knows his forum inside out and would have me fixed up in a heartbeat!!!

Thanks for everyones help on this.
