AS theme forum and home buttons
« on: March 02, 2011, 11:58:53 PM »
I've installed Simple Portal on my forums, but after installing and reinstalling both the theme and SP multiple times, I can't get the Home and Forum button changes to occur.  Right now, one of my other admins has been able to set it up so that the Home button now displays the text "Forum", but it still acts as the Home button used to (redirect to forums) and the logo redirects to my portal page.  I'd like for there to be a Home button and a Forum button with my theme (AS theme 2.0 by fussilet).  This theme is not listed in the Custom Theme Tutorial page and I tried the General Custom Theme Tutorial  Here is my site: http://toasttech.com

Is the portal showing on the default theme?

Yes.  When I go to my homepage (set as a standalone) the theme transfers and everything works.  The only issue is the buttons at the top.

Is this custom theme in your /Themes/default folder?

Yes.  It's just /forum/Themes/astheme_20 .  Right now, the only theme it works properly for is the default even though I checked the boxes for the other themes during installation.  However, those checkboxes didn't say anything about editing index.template.php or Display.template.php (I think that's what it's called).

OK. So it is not in Themes/default, and buttons in Themes/default work properly. That's good.

First, you probably want to take a copy of portal.css from Themes/default/css to Themes/astheme_20/css
That will fix your title blocks.

Next, you need to figure out how your custom theme handles those buttons. If it did it the "curve" way, you'd see the same buttons with the custom theme as you see with the default theme.

Check in index.template.php to find out how it makes buttons. If you need help, check with the theme's author. After that, it will be a little bit more clear which part of the custom themes tutorial might apply to your theme.
