The install did not go properly.
Files could not be written to, files could not be copied to where the belong, some files maybe even could not be read.

This problem is not caused by Simple Portal. It is a problem that SMF (the Package Manager) is having, probably caused by file permissions.  Here's what you can do about it:

Please
1) uninstall Simple Portal (ignore errors.  They are because Simple Portal did not install properly).
2) Follow the instructions to make files writeable. This may mean setting directories to 777 or 755, and files to 655 or 644, depending on how your host has php set up, and its requirements on file types.
3) Create, in the Packages directory, a directory named temp, with the most permissive permissions your host will allow (777 or 755, depending).
4) Try the install again.

Have you tried the SimplePortal documentation?

i did what you said.., the last thing  error ive'd  encounter is   Unable to load the 'Portal' template.

i copied the Portal.template.php from the simple portal package and pasted it in /Themes/default/

here is the output:

i copied all portal template into default themes folder.. and it works.. thank you

Very good! I'm glad you solved it.
I hope the documentation helped -- it was based on many of the problems I've seen other users have.

Now that you've been through one of the more difficult Package Manager problems, do you have any advice for improving the documentation?
