Help with Forum Button for Custom Theme
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:40:44 AM »
I'm using SMF version 1.1.12 and I just installed simple portal. All appears to fine, but I'm having some trouble with the code I'm supposed to change to make the forum button appear in the portal. I was able to follow all of the instructions up to here:

"If your help button looked something like this:"
Code: [Select]
   // Show the [help] button.
   echo ($current_action == 'help' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
            <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'help' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
               <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=help">' , $txt[119] , '</a>
            </td>' , $current_action == 'help' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

"Then you final forum button should look something like this:"

Code: [Select]
   // Show the [forum] button.
   if (empty($context['disable_sp']) && in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)))
      echo ($current_action=='forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
            <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'forum' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
               <a href="', $scripturl . ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 1 ? '?action=forum' : ''), '">', empty($txt['sp-forum']) ? 'Forum' : $txt['sp-forum'], '</a>
            </td>' , $current_action=='forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

Unfortunately, DarkBreak's help button code is a bit different.

Code: [Select]
         // Show the [help] button.
         echo '<li><a' , $current_action=='help' ? ' class="current"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=help"><span>' , $txt[119] , '</span></a></li>';

Rather than screw up my board by making an uneducated guess, I figured it would be better to just ask for help with editing the code.  Thanks in advance.

Also, is editing the home button for "standalone mode" a necessary step even if i don't have the portal in standalone mode?
