Starting Post ID ??
« on: July 20, 2010, 07:25:34 AM »
Hello evryone, congratulations for your very nice work.

I own a forum www.aktorama.gr
I am running  SMF 2.0 RC3 and S.P. version 2.3.2 on it.  :nervous-happy:

I would like to add a Bottom Block with Board News at my portal and
in the panel it gives me the opportunity to use a Starting Post but it needs the ID.
How am i supposed to know the ID of the Post, that i would like to be the starter in my Board News? :|

take this post as an example:

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=6048.0

6048  is the ID of this post

however, this setting is not obligatory, you can just leave it blank and the block will show the latest topics on that board.

Thank you for your answer, but i want to start with a specific post in the board news of my bottom block and then follows by the recent posts.
However, this option isn't working for me...  :(
For example i want to show this post here in the begging of the board news.
I take the number 83 (as you told me) and insert it in the field of the Starting Post ID: in the Add Block (Board News) panel and it doesn't work.
Any other options?

Thank you very much for your reply
I insert the number 432 (as the msg number here in the field of the Starting Post ID: in the Add Block (Board News) panel, but nothing yet .... :dead:
It doesn't show this msg at the begining of the Board News....
Maybe it is not working....  :|

The "starting post" parameter just means "don't even consider any posts with a lower number than this one".

Boardnews always displays the most up-to-date post/topic on the chosen boards first.
